Find Out More About the Sahuarita, Rancho Sahuarita and Southern Arizona Economy & Job Market

Southern Arizona’s proximity to the Mexican border has always had an impact on our Southern Arizona economy. Manufacturing, assembly and packaging plants have many commuting to these plant facilities just across the Border in Nogales, Mexico.

Fresh produce from Mexico enters the USA at the Nogales port of entry employing many produce brokers as well as truck distribution companies. Others working the border area are employed by the Federal Government in Immigration, Customs and Border Patrol.

The Manufacturing sector plays a major role in our economy. Manufacturing employment in metropolitan Tucson has more than doubled in the past 10 years. This growth rate is due to the increase of high-technology manufacturers such as Raytheon Missile Company, Sargent Controls, Bombardier Aerospace, Opto Power and Texas Instruments. Numerous other smaller businesses support the supply flow functions of these larger corporations, building a strong interrelated economy.

Region-wide Federal, state and local government employ more than 60,000 people. The University of Arizona remains the largest single employer with more than 10,000 employees. Davis-Monthan Air Force Base employs over 8,000 military and civilian employees.

Tourism contributes over $2.9 billion to the Pima County economy base. Many new hotels and resort destinations have been built and enhanced to meet the needs of Southern Arizona visitors.

Due its diverse population, Southern Arizona has continued to buck many of the adverse economic conditions found in other areas of the United States.

Real Estate Tips
About Appraisals >Working With A Real Estate Agent

It is not unusual for homeowners to yield to the temptation to try to sell their own home. It seems easy enough--just place an ad in the weekend paper and wait for buyers to show up. Although it may seem simple, real estate sales transactions are extremely complex proceedings.

The first pitfall can come with pricing your property realistically. Homeowners often price their property too high initially, then drastically slash the price when weeks go buy without an offer. Even if a prospective buyer agrees to the initial asking price, there could be complications if the buyers begin to feel that they have agreed to pay too much, or if the lender's appraisal values the property at far less than the agreed-upon price. Some clients hire agents to market their home professionally after weeks or months of trying to sell their own home without success, or after their FSBO transaction fell through.
