Sahuarita, Rancho Sahuarita and Pima County Weather While many people moving to Southern Arizona from other parts of the United States think of the Sonoran Desert as an endless summer – we do have several distinct seasons (though you do need to watch for subtle hints of seasonal changes). Having lived in Southern Arizona since 1986, I have come to appreciate our seasons – albeit our seasons ARE quite different seasons than those I experienced in Ohio… In addition to the weather changes, you will also notice with seasonal changes are the different birds migrating through the area. | | | | Winter Rancho Sahuarito Lake
Winter – Skip the snow shovel; bag the heavy winter coat, hat & gloves!! Sunshine, moderate temperatures and crystal clear blue skies all describe an Arizona winter day. Many people from northern climates migrate to Arizona for winter sunshine and moderate temperatures. With daytime highs in the 60s & 70s and nighttime lows in the 30s – there are few areas in the USA that can compare. Looking for some snow? Winter’s wetter colder weather can bring rain sprinkles to the valley floor and a dusting of snow on the top of the Santa Rita Mountains. At 8000+ ft in elevation, snow can be visable on the north side of the Santa Rita Mountains from as early as December as late as April. The most southern ski slopes in the United States are located just north of Tucson in the Catalina Mountains. More serious downhill and cross-country skiers head to northern Arizona in the Flagstaff area for outside winter pursuits. | | | | Spring — Cactus Flowers
Spring – The desert comes alive in brilliant bloom!! Cacti with waxy bright colored petals seem to bloom through March & April culminating with the blooming of the grand saguaro cactus early May. Little league baseball & softball fill evenings with practice and games. Spring swimming preps the hearty for the upcoming league swim season… basketball camps; cheer clinics are some of the extra outside activities filling warm pleasant evenings. | | | | Summer -- Stingrays -- Medley Relay for Girls
Summer – Though summertime daytime highs can exceed 100, the humidity is low and can feel 10’ cooler than what the thermometer reads. With the sun rising over the mountains as early as 5AM, it’s common to see people to be out walking, bicycling or getting a jump on the workday in these early hours of the day. During the heat of the day (11AM – 3PM) most people will find indoor activities and then return to outdoors in the evening. Arizona has very few pesky mosquitoes making for enjoyable time spent barbequing or visiting with friends on patios or front courtyards. Summer monsoon rain & lightening storms offer a diversion for July & August followed by a green rebound for desert plants, cactus and vegetation. One of the most distinctive flowering summer bushes is the red-bird-of-paradise offering spot color with brilliant red-orange flowers. | | | | Fall Soccer
Fall – With crisp mornings and brilliant blue skies, fall is quite possibly the most pleasant season of all. The intense summer heat wanes (though a day or so of 100’ temps in October isn’t unusual). Fall soccer leagues bring many outside for practices and Saturday games. By the end of the soccer season after school practices are shortened by nightfall and many wear jackets during Saturday morning games. You can check out the current weather using the link below. First Time Buyers >Credit Card Common Sense
If you are buying a home for the first time, you need to establish a reasonably good financial foundation before a lender will approve you for a mortgage loan. Lenders look for a good credit rating, sufficient funds to make the initial down payment and pay the closing costs, and a stable employment situation.
People who have just qualified for a mortgage loan are usually in better-than-average financial shape. If you have recently purchased a new house, don't be surprised if you receive numerous offers from retail stores and other credit card companies offering you pre-approved revolving credit.
Be careful about accepting these offers! New home owners often use most of their savings in the process of financing the transaction, and they need everything from linens to furniture to get settled in the home. With all of the immediate credit available, it may be very tempting to just say "charge it." If you're not careful, you could be "up to your ears" in debt very quickly. It takes discipline to reach the goal of home ownership--and it takes that same kind of discipline to maintain financial health after you leave the closing table.
